"People and Animals can live together in harmony but it is the owners responsibility to provide for and protect the animals as well as protect people from their animals."
Douglas Wolfe, ARS Director
The Animal Rights Society has been established in Van, Texas USA and St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada to provide services and volunteer to help enhance the welfare of animals while promoting responsible ownership.
It is the objective of ARS, our volunteers and officers to provide a postive force for change. One of the biggest animal welfare issues today is the unbridled over breeding and resulting shelter population issues. Spay Neuter clinics and programs will greatly help in these areas. ARS will help owners to receive services such as spay, neuter or shots for their pets either free or at a reduced cost.
The first steps ARS is taking to help with the issues facing pets and their owners will be spay, neuter clinics providing low cost or free services. The first clinics will be held at the First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas in the area commonly refered to as Dog Alley.

Over-Population caused in part by Over-Breeding creates many problems for pet owners, shelters, rescues and the animals themselves. Spay or Neuter your pets, this is the single most effective action individuals and pet owners can take to help alleviate this problem. Shelters fill up with abandoned, unwanted and stray animals and many of these facilities wind up with no choice but to euthanize far to many animals.
Mandatory spay neuter laws would be the most effective means of addressing this issue today.
ARS will make spay neuter clinics that will offer low cost or free services our primary focus through out 2012. With the help of our volunteers and the support of our contributors we can make a difference. Animals and Pets are put down by the millions every year due to over-breeding which results in over-population and leads to the tragic deaths of so many animals. Please help, volunteer today, or contribute to our efforts.
